Unfortunately, silicone also has some less fantastic features. Silicone is a product made in a more open structure, than ex. melamine or glass. Therefore, it can change over time or in use.
It is not unknown that silicone products in general can adopt the smell from food and soap. Also, silicone can adopt colour from food and liquid.

When using oily products with silicone, this can give a wage or stronger soapy smell/taste. The oil can come from either the food or more likely from the soap that has been used.

Our silicone products and lots of other silicone can be washed in a dishwasher, but you should use a dishwashing soap without oil or perfume.

How should I wash silicone tableware?
•,Use dish soap or dishwashing tablets without perfume.
•,Allow the product to air-dry after washing.
•,Some highly coloured foods such as tomato sauce may transfer to the product. Clean the product as soon as possible after use. Repeated treatment may be necessary, and in some cases, the colour cannot come off.
•,Wash in a dishwasher with a neutral detergent tablet appear to be the best way to remove unwanted smell and taste. It might be necessary to wash the plate more than once.
